Drexel's very own helps the homeless

"Poverty and homelessness aren't pretty. They're a tragedy faced all across America and right here in our own backyard." Those are the words of City Union Mission Executive Director Daniel J. Doty from the Mission's website, cityunionmission.org.
Drexel's very own Veana Purkey contributes her skills to this mission. She takes used plastic grocery bags and quilts them into sleeping mats for the homeless. "One day I called up to the City Union Mission and asked if they could use these mats and they said that they could so I continued to make them," Veana said.
