Winter Royalty

n Saturday, January 16th, the stars chose to collide at the Drexel High School’s annual Winter Formal held at the Drexel Community Center. The doors opened at 7:30 p.m. for pictures, and the dance itself started at 8:00 p.m. and ended at 11:00 p.m. A breakfast was held afterwards in the school’s art room and was sponsored by parents who volunteered to help cook and prepare food. Any student was welcome to come.
The theme, as mentioned, was “When the Stars Collide.” StuCO and NHS members spent their Friday night and Saturday morning decorating just right to set the perfect theme for formal. Candidates were nominated earlier on in the week and were crowned at the formal between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. The King and Queen of 2010’s Winter Formal were Alec Young and Katie Hocker. The other candidates were: Marah Shipley, Joe Roberts, Dale Blan, Meagan Lane and Cody Hargreaves.
With a D.J. from Mix 93.3, good jams were played and more than half the student body was on their feet from beginning to end, dancing and sweating up a storm. Snack foods were served, but you rarely saw someone sitting around eating cheese cubes. However, thank goodness for the beverages because there was a great amount of thirst going on in between each and every song, and thirst quenching was most certainly....
