Water Improvement Project well underway
The water system improvement project is now well underway. The project consists of five separate contracts, which began in February of 2010: one, for the transmission main, one for the tower, two for distribution lines, and one for operating equipment.
The first contract is a 23-mile transmission main to Harrisonville, where we will tie into Tri-County Water Authority. The source of Tri-County’s water is groundwater wells near the Missouri River Alluvium and they maintain an award-winning Groundwater Protection Plan which controls activity around the wells. The transmission main goes down many gravel roads before coming up O Highway and then down A Highway into Drexel.
The second contract is the construction of a new 250,000 gallon water storage tower, which will be located not far from the Verizon tower, off of State Line Road.
