Tutoring program approved as set by No Child Left Behind
The Drexel R-IV Board of Education held their monthly meeting on Thursday, September 18th, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. in the Library Media Center.
The meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. with the following members in attendance: President Christyne Hellebuyck, Vice President Vic Shipley, Treasurer Kim Hocker, and Members Chuck Martin, Ronnie Jacobs, and Brenda Hadley. Others present were: Principal Robbie Shepherd, Superintendent Dr. Judy Stivers, Secretary Linda Moles, John and Kevin Gunnels, Brandon and Doretta Moles, Harold Seba, Ricky Allen, Brian Breuer, Kyle Littrell, Dennis Bolton, Judy Daniel, Donna Rooney, and Elaine Hamilton.
The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, and a moment of silence.
Motion to pull trace #362 Martin Mechanical, from the payment of bills portion of the consent agenda was made by Martin. Motion was seconded by Hocker, and carried unanimously.
Motion to approve the consent agenda, consisting of approval of proposed agenda and previous minutes, approval of warrant report, authorization of payment of bills, and approval of financial summary of funds was made by Shipley, seconded by Martin, and carried unanimously by the six members present.
The method of pre-printing checks for game officials has not been working very well. Officials often switch games with other officials, and those listed are not always the ones that show up. It was the consensus of the Board that the method of payment be changed back to issuing petty cash checks the night of the event, and pre-depositing needed funds to cover the expense.
Motion to pay trace #362 was made by Shipley, seconded by Hadley, and carried with five (5) yes votes, Martin abstaining.
Shepherd reported the Senior class had voted to have graduation on Friday, May 15th by a vote of 11-3. Letters were sent to parents, and he received four responses, two in favor of Friday, and two opposed. Brandon Moles was present to speak to the Board in favor of having graduation on...
