Their journey awaits; saying goodbye

Their journey’s are diverse, many heading off to college, many others heading into the working world. Wherever their hearts lead them, we wish them well.
Tears of joy filled the William D. Gordon Gymnasium last Sunday afternoon as a small group of fourteen took their final steps, declaring senior year a victorious one. The graduating class of 2009 took their seats at 2:00 p.m. to mark their place as Drexel High’s newest alumni.
The commencement exercises began with the processional “Pomp and Circumstance,” by E. Elgar and with Senior Class President Courtney Welch giving a warm welcome to all guests and students.
Next, Robbie Shepherd took his place at the podium. The lights dimmed and tears and laughter began as the Senior Memories presentation, produced by graduate Chelsea Bauer, got under way. Photos collected by family members were shown on the big screen highlighting the growing up years of all in the graduating class. Oh, to see some on their first days to school, many told, “they simply grow up too fast.”
