Search continues for David Cook

The Bates County Sheriff’s Office, the County Task Force and other law enforcement agencies are continuing to look for an Amsterdam area rancher who has been missing nearly a week. David Cook, manager for the Sterling Ranch near Amsterdam was last seen Wednesday, November 19 when he reportedly said he was going to meet someone. He took only his glasses, a cell phone and a money clip and left behind, his wallet, vehicle keys and his vehicles.
Cook, who manages the some 5000 acre ranch owned by Mike Christie, also works for the Kansas City Power and Light Company at the LaCygne Power Plant.
Hundreds of searchers who worked on foot, on horseback, on all terrain vehicles and by other means, spent the weekend looking for Cook, with no success. Tracking dogs were also involved in the search.
One of the Task Force members, Scott Issacson said there have been rumors that Cook’s body had been found on the ranch, in Kansas and elsewhere. But, as of Tuesday morning, November 25, the man had not been found. A $50,000 reward has been offered for information leading to Cook’s whereabouts. Anyone with information should call the Bates County Sheriff’s Office at 660-679-3232 or contact Chief Jim Garnett at the Butler Police Department at 660-679-6131.
