School Board holds special meeting

A Special Meeting was called by the Drexel R-IV Board of Education on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 to hold transportation bid interviews. The meeting was held in the Conference Room and began promptly at 6:30 p.m.
Members present were: Brad Lancaster, Vice President, Ronnie Jacobs, Member, Kim Hocker, Treasurer, Brenda Hadley, Member, Chuck Martin, Member, Chris Collins, Member, Dr.Judy Stivers, Superintendent, Linda Moles, Board Secretary, Robbie Shepherd, Principal, Jeff Levy, Principal. Visitors were: Kevin, John and Carolyn Gunnels, Virginia Alley, and Royce and Shawna Hettinger.
The meeting was called to order by Vice President Brad Lancaster.
Motion to approve the amended agenda was made by Collins and seconded by Hocker. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion to approve the warrant report for September 23, 2009 was made by Jacobs, seconded by Martin, and passed unanimously.
Transportation interviews were conducted with Hettinger Excavating and Gunnels Bus Service, the two companies submitting bid proposals, for transportation services from 2010-2013. The Board opened the bids during the September 21st meeting. Gunnels Bus Service’s proposal came as a typed eleven-page proposal; Hettinger Excavating presented a four-page handwritten proposal. The District asked for bids with and without Performance Bonds. The bids from Gunnels Bus Service came in showing substantial increases over the 3 year span as Hettinger Excavating remained the same for the three years.
