Submitted respectfully,
REV. MARILYN NIEMEYER, Secretary, R.I.O.
Before Christmas 2008,  Drexel R.I.O., Religious Interfaith Organization in partnership with the Drexel Star, put out a plea for help in supplying the Community Food Pantry. The response was overwhelming! Thank you to all who donated in any way.
The Community Food Pantry is located at the United Methodist Church, 304 E. Walnut, and may be used by anyone in need of food. Over the fall and winter, many families have needed help providing food, and the Community Food Pantry is thankful to be able to provide the needed help. With the economy in such turmoil, and with too many people losing their jobs, the food pantry will become even more important to this community.  We will be in constant need of more donations of food and paper goods in the coming months as the request for help will only increase. Anything you can do will be appreciated. Please be aware that we cannot accept any form of medication, from cold pills to aspirin to vitamins. Also, please check all dates on food items so that whatever you might be able to donate will not be expired. We must discard expired items if received.
From those who access the Community Food Pantry, and from R.I.O., thank you again for your generous help in this very necessary request.  Without your support, the food pantry could not be in operation.
