MGE receives approval to reduce cost of gas

Missouri Gas Energy recently received approval from the Missouri Public Service Commission to reduce its Cost of Gas Charge (the wholesale price of natural gas plus interstate transportation and storage costs) from the current $0.94501 per hundred cubic feet (Ccf) to $0.77358 per Ccf. This is the second cost of gas reduction this heating season for MGE customers.
This filing reflects the declining price of wholesale natural gas and is welcome news during the heart of what is turning out to be an unusually cold winter during an economic recession.
MGE customers on the ABC plan will also see payment amounts adjusted this month to reflect declining market prices for natural gas. This adjustment is typically done in March.
