Meet your 2009 Homecoming candidates

Bobcat pride and spirit is roaring throughout the hallways at Drexel R-IV. The Drexel students and community is anxiously awaiting this years homecoming festivities this Friday night. The theme is “Blast From the Past.” Throughout the week, students of Drexel R-IV have been participating in spirit week. Monday was Wear Pink for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Tuesday was Wacky Day and the high school students got out of class to work on their floats for the parade, Wednesday there is no school for a teacher workday, Thursday is Decade Day where students are to dress in their favorite 70s, 80s, or 90s outfits, and Friday is the annual Black and Gold Day to cheer on the Drexel Bobcat football team to victory.
This years’ candidates are, from top left to right: boys - Sophomore Booker Page, Junior Eric Groves, Freshman Trevor Cooley and Senior Zack McMahan. Left to right: ladies - Junior Brianna Gamache, Freshman Skyler Lancaster, Senior Ellen Shannon and Sophomore McKenna Hathcock.
So what does Friday’s festivities have in store for the community? Starting off the day, the Booster Club will be serving lunch on Main Street. On the menu: chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs with sides and a drink. At 2:00 the Drexel R-IV school will be parading west on Main Street to show off their support for the Bobcats and end with a pep rally to get pumped for the “big game”. After a short break in the afternoon, the Booster Club will be holding a tailgate party with walking tacos starting at 5:00 p.m. in the north parking lot of the school. Moving on to the exciting finale of the night, the Bobcats will take on Lockwood in hopes of ending the week with a bang. The crowning of this years’ Homecoming Queen and King will take place during halftime. Bring your spirit and come on out and support the Bobcats all day on Friday. Photo by Stacy Rice
