KCP&L partners with Drexel Lions Club to aid homeowners

On Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 KCP&L continued its “Renewable Energy from the Heart” campaign here in Drexel. This campaign is a series of volunteer projects throughout the KCP&L service territory to benefit thousands of people and strengthen working relationships among employees. The effort began in June 2009, and all KCP&L employees have an opportunity to volunteer on a specific project near their work location.
KCP&L’s service territory is broken into five districts. In each district, there will be large-scale or ‘signature’ projects as well as smaller projects. Employees from KCP&L’s South District teamed up with the Drexel Lions Club to complete a ‘signature’ project. They assisted
an elderly couple with much needed clean up for their home, which was heavily damaged from storms that hit Drexel in June.
“About a month ago, KCP&L called asking if our Lions Club might be interested in this program,” said Greg Mullinax, president of the Drexel Lions Club. “This is exactly the kind of thing our Lions Club takes pride in – people helping their neighbors. We’re very thankful to everyone at KCP&L for selecting us to be involved in this worthwhile project.”
