Interest continues to grow for need of Community College in Cass County

The Drexel Community Betterment Corporation (DCBC) met Tuesday evening, July 27th, at the Drexel School for their regular monthly meeting. Snacks for the meeting were sponsored by Stewart Liquor and Patty’s Hair Care. Taco Salad and fruit made a light and refreshing snack on a hot summer evening. Those present were Patty Dreher, Patsy Stewart, Sue Bush-Wishon, Lila Jones, Joe Ziegler, Carson Burke, Dave Alburty, Carol Pranulis, Marc Finke and guest speaker Melissa Freeman.
Chris Lang, CEO of CMC was scheduled to speak, but was unable to attend as planned due to a family commitment. He has rescheduled to a lunch meeting on August 31.
Treasurer Lynette Harris reported that there is $2,118.51 in the account. Marsha Bailey is owed $1,125 for the remainder of the flower care. There is $725 in the Drexel Dollars account. If you have them, spend them and buy more for gifts.
Melissa Freeman is a consultant to the Cass County Corporation for Economic Development (CCCED). A year ago, when Jim Welborn was Chairman of CCCED, he sparked discussion around the county regarding the need for a community college here in Cass County. This discussion led to funding a “needs assessment” to define the needs and what kind of community college would be best.
