The Drexel R-IV school district welcomed senior citizens on Tuesday afternoon in celebration of Thanksgiving as they held their annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Concert. At 1:00 p.m. the Student Council served the traditional Thanksgiving turkey and all the trimmings to more than sixty local seniors. As entertainment, the Junior High Choir, Junior High Band, High School Band, first year Guitar Band, and the High School Choir took to the risers for many musical ensembles from “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” to “What a Wonderful World” with Meagan Lane on the trumpet. All the music was performed under the direction of music teacher, Melissa Groves. Included in the entertainment, Melissa Busch, High School English teacher, read poems, from “Thanksgiving Joy” by Kelsey Irvin to the comedic “A Turkey’s Perspective”
by Katie Hocker, all of which were written by students. (Photo by Stacy Rice)
