Drexel speaks for need of City administrator position

The Board of Aldermen of the City of Drexel, Missouri met in Regular Session on Monday, September 8, 2008. Mayor Reece called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at City Hall.
Citizens present were Dave Alburty, Carsen Burke, Tom Burke, Donna Clayton, Kay Edmunds, Larry Edmunds, Raymond Fink, Ed Harris, Kay Harris, Susie Hatten, Phyllis Hocker, Judy Houseman, Marcella Johnston, Brad Lancaster, Joe Madrid, Rose Marsh, Kevin Medcalf, Greg Mullinax, Louise Musick, Myron Musick, Ruth Osborn, Sheila Reece, Stacy Rice, Kevin Shannon, Caroline Showalter, Carol Shumate, Larry Shumate, Boyd Smith, Janice South, Carol Welborn, and Jim Welborn.
City Staff present were Chief of Police Jon Carpenter, Water Technician Russ Ream, Public Works Superintendent Martin Doughty, City Clerk Kara Smith, and City Administrator Michael Fisher.
Mayor Kenneth Reece, Alderman Sue Bush-Wishon, Alderman Terry Mayfield, Alderman Gale Allman, and Mayor Pro Tem Doug Musick were all in attendance.
Alderman Musick asked that the order of the agenda be altered to move the rescission of an ordinance which established the position of City Administrator for the City of Drexel to the top of old business rather than the end. He further requested that a resolution to declare the floor scrubber obsolete of the Consent Agenda be moved to the end of new business. City Administrator Michael Fisher added that the agenda would need to be amended to add a presentation by Ruth Osborn and that there was a new business item to add as well, which involved retaining Alpha-Omega Geotech, Inc. to perform the geotechnical testing required for the city’s water improvements. Alderman Allman made a motion to approve the agenda as amended. Motion was seconded by Alderman Wishon and was approved by a 4-0 vote.
