Members of the Drexel FFA Chapter participated in the 2009 Missouri State Fair the week of August 13 – 23.
Projects were displayed in the FFA Building throughout the ten days. Luke Bartholomew and Jared Jacobs exhibited welding projects. Luke showed a feed pan hanger that he had made to be used in his beef operation. Jared Jacobs welded and exhibited a yard bird feeder hanger. Both of these young men are also members of 4-H and are in welding project groups. Additionally they are using welding as a part of their Supervised Agricultural Experience Program through FFA, so although Drexel does not have a shop as of yet, they made these projects at their home and qualified to be exhibited. They both received Gold ratings. Blake Seba exhibited plant samples from his soybean SAE and received a Silver rating. All three boys also participated in the Central District FFA Fair along with Brett Moles who exhibited an alfalfa sample.
This year the Drexel Chapter was invited to have a display in the FFA Building to feature the new chapter. Members Jessi Gunnels and Marissa Bauer spent several hours completing a 3’ x 8’ display that told the story of the local chapter. They also received Gold ribbons for their efforts. The display featured the chartering ceremony, their community service projects and the members’ SAE programs.
