Drexel couple injured

Two people from Drexel were slightly injured in a two vehicle accident in Cass County Monday, June 1. The accident occurred around 5:10 p.m. on Missouri Highway 2, one half mile west of south Groh Road, west of Harrisonville.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when several hay bales fell off a trailer being pulled by a 2007 Chevrolet, driven by Larry E. Burchett, 56, of Freeman, Missouri. One of the hay bales hit the windshield of a 2009 Hyundai, driven by Rhonda S. Irvin, 38, of Drexel, Missouri.
Irvin and a passenger, John R. Irvin, 45, received minor injuries. Both refused medical treatment at the scene.
The initial investigation was conducted by Cass County State Trooper C. Taibi, who was assisted by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation is continuing and charges may be pending.
