Drexel Chapter celebrates National FFA Week

The National FFA Organization will celebrate National FFA week February 21-28, 2009.
Step Up, Stand Out is the theme this year, challenging FFA members to step up to responsibilities, stand out from the rest of the crowd and reach for success. Nearly half a million FFA members across the nation will participate in National FFA Week activities at the local and state levels.
The National FFA Organization, formally known as the Future Farmer of America, is an organization of deeply rooted traditions. The Drexel FFA Program is just starting to establish its roots. Drexel’s agricultural classes began in August and the FFA Chapter was officially chartered in November. The chapter will receive a framed copy of its charter during the State FFA Convention in April at Columbia.
FFA Chapter activities for the year have included attending the Area 7 Barnwarming and going to the American Royal which was an incentive field trip for members who participated in the chapter fund raiser. The chapter also held a Christmas Breakfast and Gift Exchange prior to Christmas break and attended the District Greenhand Motivational Conference in January.
The conservation class wrote a grant last October to renovate a section the old city lake into a wetland. The United Sportsmen League Grant is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Agriculture. The purpose of this grant is to...
