DCBC takes first steps toward Main Street revitalizations, joins MMSC

Cookies and apple cider were provided by Anita Brown and Lynette Harris for the Missouri Main Street Connection downtown improvement meeting at the Community Center on November 18, 2008. The 7:00 p.m. meeting took the place of the regular monthly luncheon meeting of the Drexel Community Betterment Corporation (DCBC). Those present were: Sue Bush, Tyler Black, Greg Mullinax, Dave Alburty, Mark Goebel, Marilyn Niemeyer, Joe Ziegler, Anita Brown, Craig Arnold, Lynette Harris, Barbie Shipley, Vic Shipley, Herbie Thomas, Bob Miller, Jim Welborn, Carol Pranulis, Peggy Moles, Kara Smith, Boyd Smith, Ted Kasper, Kenny Reece, Stacy Rice, Patty Dreher, Gale Allman and Margaret Tye.
The Flag was presented by Mayor Reece and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited to start the meeting. The meeting was gaveled in by President Tyler Black.
Treasurer Greg Mullinax reported that DCBC is up $66 after expenses this month, for a balance of $1,876. He noted several businesses have paid their membership dues. There is also $75 in the separate Drexel Dollars account.
Next, Vic Shipley gave a power point presentation about a Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC) seminar that Anita Brown, Sue Bush-Wishon, Lynette Harris, and he had attended in October in Jefferson City, Missouri. The seminar was a fast-paced introduction to the Main Street Approach program and how to get started. Shipley shared that they were a little dazed and confused at the beginning of the two-day seminar, but ended up very excited to share the benefits of the program by the second day.
