DCBC plans to hold BBQ contest again

The Drexel Community Betterment Corporation met for an evening meeting at the Drexel School last Tuesday, February 23rd, from 5:50-7:30.
The evening’s snacks were catered by Paul Orton, sponsored by Shipley Insurance and Realty. Ham and cheese sandwiches were made by Orton, and the potato soup and cinnamon cookies were made by Vic. Those present were Mayor Ken Reece, Councilwoman Sue Bush-Wishon, Elementary Principal Jeff Levy, Vic Shipley, Anita Brown, Patsy Stewart, Patty Dreher, Joe Ziegler, Lynette Harris, Dr. Marc Finke, Paul and Cindy Orton, and Dave Alburty.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by President Marc Finke to start the meeting.
Treasurer Lynette Harris stated that the balance in the general checking account is $1625.09 and $805 in the Drexel Dollars account.
Under Old Business, Patty Dreher shared that the parade ordinance discussed last month did pass; copies are being passed around. Mayor Reece is working on getting the street signs made.
Dave Alburty will attend this year’s Downtown Revitalization Conference in Jefferson City in regards to the Missouri Main Street Connection. The event is partly sponsored by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, and includes MMSC Basic Training. The training will cover the Four Point Approach for a successful Missouri Main Street Program over two days. Promotions, economic structuring, design, and organization will be covered, as will be fundraising and membership campaigns. A visit to the Capitol building will give DCBC an opportunity to check in....
