On this day, we salute you

Tuesday, November 11th, was Veterans Day, and 23,442,000 military veterans were recognized around
the country for their service, according to the United States Department of Veteran Affairs.
Drexel R-IV students observed the special day by honoring a number of veterans through a formal ceremony. The
William D. Gymnasium was packed with students, teachers, administration, and a few community members, all
gathering to give thanks to the extraordinary people who served and continue to serve our country. Prior to the
assembly, many veterans were treated to a luncheon in the south gym of the school. Music from the 8th grade class, 5th grade class and High School Band and Choir, under the direction of Melissa Groves, played tribute to the attendees with songs of American pride. Katie Hocker and Meagan Lane presented a video called “What is an American?” Thirty-three veterans were honored with a red carnation and a Certificate of Appreciation by members of the Drexel Honor Society.
