DARE raffle claims local teacher as winner

The theme last year for the Cass County D.A.R.E. Program was “Reach for the Stars Not for Drugs.” With that said, Deputy Christine Eddleman and Cpl. Kevin Tieman got together and decided to have a quilt made using some of the past DARE t-shirts. Terry Tieman, Cpl. Kevin Tieman’s mother made and donated the quilt and Jes Dan Quilting quilted it for her. Tieman then donated it to the D.A.R.E. Unit for one lucky winner to win during a raffle to raise money for the program. Tickets were sold at each one of the six Cass County Schools and their D.A.R.E. graduations, giving each school the unit teaches at an opportunity to win. The drawing was held June 1st, because some graduations weren’t until December, with the rest in April and May. The quilt raffle generated approximately $500 to be used for D.A.R.E.. Pictured is Elaine Hamilton, the big winner of the quilt! She is a K - 6 Special Education teacher here in Drexel. All who participated felt the raffle to be a huge success!
