Classes resume at Drexel R-IV

Students at Drexel R-IV, and practically all others in the duo-county area, received an extra week away from textbooks, homework, sporting activities and teachers following the end to the Christmas break. Classes resumed on Monday the 11th, with nearly all modes of transportation coming to and from school safely. The snowstorm-after-snowstorm effect kept many rural students from being able to even leave their driveways, let alone a bus making the trek to the necessary pick-up spots. Impassable rural roads due to snow and the extreme low temperatures caused for the district to cancel classes. With the joint effort of Gunnel’s Bus Service, Superintendent Dr. Judy Stivers, and administration an Emergency Snow Route has been formed for use in the future should a fierce snowstorm target the area again. Bus families should check the school’s website for the most accurate information and watch for broadcasted information on local news stations, i.e., Drexel R-IV - Emergency Snow Route.
