Cass County announces National Public Health Week 2009

Making better health choices is the best way to live a longer, healthier life. That is the message from the Cass County Health Department during National Public Health Week, April 6-12.
Health officials are urging Cass County residents to make lifestyle choices that will improve their well-being and help prevent Missouri’s leading causes of premature death and disability - heart disease, stroke, diabetes and some types of cancer.
The theme for this year’s Public Health Week is Building the Foundation for a Healthy Missouri.
“A healthy life requires a foundation built by healthy choices,” said Tiffany Klassen, Health Director. “We all have the power to make choices that can improve our health and add years to our life.”
Associate Commissioner Brian Baker said the Cass County Commission was working to support the Health Department’s efforts. “Promoting a healthy community is extremely important when we see increases in diabetes, obesity, and heart issues. Imagine if we all simply made better health choices what we can do to reduce our healthcare costs. Our focus is simply educating people...hoping they will do what is best to build a foundation for good health,” stated Baker.
