Candidate filings closed on Tuesday for April 7th election

The filing period for candidates seeking office on the April 7, 2009 elections, officially ended at 5 p.m., Tuesday January 20. The final slate of candidates and offices for which they filed will be in next week’s edition of the Drexel Star.
As of Tuesday morning, January 20, the list of candidates are as follows:
Adrian School Board: two-three terms - Jay Bagby, Jim Tenholder and Keith Kunkelman. One for the two year term-Tim Lovejoy, David Knuth
Archie School Board: Steve Bartholomew, Dennis Kurzweil
Ballard School Board: Rusty Claiborne, Eileen Parks and Dan Copeland
Drexel School Board: Kim Hocker, Chris Collins
Cass-Midway School Board: Chris Hillman, Debbie Smith, Charles Bayard
Miami School Board: No one has filed
Adrian City Council: North Ward-Mike Lemon; South Ward-Bill Greenwood
Archie City Council: Mayor- Robert Mitchell. East Ward-Phil Bach and Thomas Clay Neely. West Ward-Les Whiteside
Drexel City Council: Mayor- Kenny Reece, Robert Miller. East Ward-Doug Musick. West Ward-Kevin Shannon
Public Water Supply District #5, Sub-district #1, Incumbent Steve Smith
Bates County Hospital Board: Curtis W. Long
Bates County Health Center Board: Pam Hedger, Wanda Allen and Ritchie Davis
The final tally of these candidates and those running for Bates County Township seats, ware expected to be certified on January 27th by the Bates County Clerk.
