Briefs City council discusses lake, ordinances
The Board of Aldermen of the City of Drexel, Missouri met in Regular Session on Monday, November 10, 2008. Mayor Reece called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at City Hall.
Citizens present were: Mary Lou Gentry, Ralph Gentry, Judy Houseman, Joe Madrid, Charlene Musick, Greg Musick, Marilyn Nickell, Larry Nunn, Sheila Reece, Stacy Rice, Jim Seuferling, Don Simerson, Boyd Smith, Janice South, B.T. Webb, and Jim Welborn. Russ Ream, and City Clerk Kara Smith. Mayor Kenneth Reece, Alderman Sue Bush-Wishon, Alderman Terry Mayfield, Alderman Gale Allman, and Mayor Pro Tem Doug Musick were all in attendance.
Alderman Wishon asked for clarification on the first and second readings of a bill. She stated that she believed these readings would need to be given on separate nights unless of an emergency situation. Mayor Reece explained that both can be done on the same Allman made a motion to approve the agenda as amended. Motion was seconded by Alderman Mayfield and was approved by a 4-0 vote.
At this time, B.T. Webb of the Drexel Golf Association addressed council and introduced Larry Nunn as a member to the organization. Nunn took the opportunity to thank the City and Council for the lawnmower they received last year. Mayor Reece
stated that he appreciated their gratitude, but the lawnmower $3,500. They stated to the Board that they wished to purchase four ball washers, trash can receptacles, four benches, and one skag striper attachment for their mower. The total would come to $2,964 plus the cost of freight. They asked the Board to take a look at the packets which they had provided for them. Alderman Mayfield asked what items were needed most, to which they responded the ball washers and trash can receptacles. The Council agreed to come back to this.
Mayor Reece asked if there was a motion to approve the consent agenda. Alderman Allman asked how the city was still collecting money in building permits, but yet no permits had come before the Board. City Clerk Kara Smith explained that the City was still receiving revenue in this category as some building permits had been approved by City Administrator Michael Fisher prior to his resignation.
