Aldermen approve many building permits

The Board of Aldermen of the City of Drexel, Missouri met in Regular Session on Monday, April 12th, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.
Citizens present were Allison Carpenter, Jason Cooper, Sody Geuy, Frank Lochiano, Stacy Rice, Jennifer Thomas, B.T. Webb and Cindy Woodward. City Staff present were Public Works Superintendent Martin Doughty, Water Technician Russ Ream, Police Chief Jon Carpenter, City Treasurer Peggy Moles and City Clerk Kara Smith. Mayor Kenneth Reece, Alderwoman Sue Bush-Wishon, re-elected Alderman Terry Mayfield, Mayor Pro-Tem Doug Musick and newly-elected Bob Thomas were in attendance. Alderman Shannon was absent.
Mayor Reece called the meeting to order.
Mayor Reece announced that the agenda would need to be amended to include additional building permits and to move Old Business to the beginning of the meeting. Alderman Musick made a motion to approve the amended agenda, which was seconded by Alderman Mayfield. The amended agenda was approved with a 4-0 vote of the Board.
Al Hellebuyck did not attend the meeting, however, Alderman Mayfield discussed the plans of Hellebuyck and necessary steps he would need to take for approval by the Board before a permit could be issued for construction of a new single-family home. After further discussion, it was decided that Alderman Mayfield would discuss the issues with Hellebuyck and report back to the Council.
Cindy Woodward, a resident of Drexel, addressed the Council on several concerns and issues. Mayor Reece stated that these matters would be looked into by city personnel.
Mayor Reece then asked if there was a motion to approve the consent agenda. Alderwoman Bush-Wishon made a motion to approve the Consent Agenda. The motion was seconded by Alderman Musick. The motion carried with a 4-0 vote of the Council.
Next, Council reviewed Building Permit requests: David and Carin Russell, 102 E. Cass Street, permit requested to tear down an old building on their property and replace it on the same slab due to storm damage. Alderman Musick made a motion to approve, seconded by Alderman Mayfield and approved with a 3-0 vote.
