Ahhhhh, retirement!



Star Trek, the classic science fiction television series, debuts with its first episode, titled “The Man Trap” and ushered in a franchise that endures to this day, on March 4 - The Beatles: In an interview published in The London Evening Standard, John Lennon comments, “We’re more popular than Jesus now,” eventually sparking a controversy in the United States, on April 13 - United States president Lyndon Johnson signed the 1966 Uniform Time Act act dealing with daylight saving time, U.S. troops in Vietnam totaled 250,000 in April, in May Busch Memorial Stadium opened in St. Louis, MO, and the Gateway Arch was dedicated by U.S. Vice-President Hubert Humphrey and U.S. Secretary of the Interior Stewart Udall, famous boxer Mike Tyson was born and U.S. First Class postage was 5 cents. This was 1966, the year Frances Kearns of Drexel started her career at the Drexel Post Office. This week, after 42 years of dedicated service, she retired. On Monday, the post office held a retirement party in her honor from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. with cake, coffee and punch served. Kearns visited with friends, co-workers and family, reminiscing over her career and fondest memories. Kearns has no
immediate plans, now retired, except to “do nothing.” “I just have no plans,” said Kearns. Her official last day was Monday, December 1st.
