50th year of fireworks in the park to be celebrated

The City of Drexel and the Drexel Lions Club have teamed up to offer another 4th of July filled with fun and games for the entire family.
This years’ event will be bigger than years prior.... it’s the 50th!
The 50th Annual “Fireworks in the Park” festivities will kick off early on Saturday morning with the annual celebratory parade down Main Street. Those wishing to be in the Independence Day Parade simply need to line up at the intersection of State and Main Streets at 10:00 a.m. The parade is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. Bring your lawn chairs. Honorary Grand Marshals will be Gene Allen, Dr. Ken Hatten, Herbie Thomas, Sody Geuy and Dr. Charles Marsh, all of whom will be honored in a ceremony at 1:00 p.m. in the Community Center for their years of service to the Drexel Lions Club. Following the parade, the Blues Brothers will entertain you at the Community Center!
The Lions Club members have been working on a non-stop, fun-filled day that is sure to please just about everyone. After the parade, you are invited to bring your lawn chairs to the H.T. Smith Park for a Puppet Show put on by The Robinson Puppet Theater. The Robinson’s, a family of six, are not new to the area with this being their third year providing entertainment on the 4th. They will be offering several puppet shows during the day. Along with the shows, they will offer up some chain saw carving fun that will later be auctioned off to the highest bidder. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Drexel Lions Club. The chain saw carving shows will take place at various times of the day. All the proceeds will go back into the....
