Four Drexel teen poets represented the Drexel Branch at the Cass County Public Library's poetry contest. For more information and to view the Drexel Library Schedule of Events see the May 9th Drexel Star paper.

Drexel Booster Club supports the Bobcats

The Drexel Booster Club was hart at work sorting State Basketball shirts to distribute before the Boy's Final Four game in Columbia, Missouri. They have been in preparation for this since their last meeting. Shirts for the basketball team were discussed and designs made for the teams. After the quarterfinal games at Clinton, order forms were passed out and the fun began.

"Just Beat It"

Former 3rd grade teacher of Drexel R-IV, Andrea Hathcock, was diagnosed with breast cancer last summer and has fought to "Beat It." Andrea currently teaches at Archie and has wonderful support from her students, co-workers, former co-workers, friends, and family. Andrea lives in Drexel and the Drexel cheerleaders and fans are cheering her on as they hold up signs that say "Just Beat It," which is the them of Andrea's campaign to fight this cancer diagnosis.

Youth volunteers selected in 18th Annual National Awards Program

Cassie Wang, 17 of Lenexa and Alec Elffner, 14, of Hiawatha, KS. were named Kansas' top two youth volunteers of 2013 by The Pudential Spirit of Community Awards, a nationwide program honoring young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism. Alec is the son of Del and Denise Elffner and the grandson of Janet Elffner, Louisburg, KS. and Don and Judy Jacobs, Drexel, MO. He was nominated by Hiawatha Middle School in Hiawatha, KS.

New Arrivals: Maggie Jo and Locke John Rahl

Matt and Carrie Rahl are proud to announce the birth of their twins, Maggie Jo Rahl and Locke John Rahl who were born on December 25, 2012. Maternal grandparents are C.J. and Teresa Shannon of Amsterdam, Mo.
