FFA Camp: Friends, Fun and Activity packed!

Twelve Drexel FFA members along with their advisor attended the State Leadership Camp June 29 – July 3. Members spent a week involved in an intense schedule of daily activities that encouraged members to network with members from other chapters while also developing skills and collecting ideas to improve their own chapters.
Camp participants spent two – one hour sessions each morning in required leadership training. Most of these sessions involved exposure to the agricultural commodity organizations in the Missouri. Wednesday focused on Conservation. Missouri Conservation agents spent the day working with participates educating them on ethical and moral dilemmas, forest products, water conservation, wildlife population management and controlling wildlife damage. Elective leadership training opportunities were provided throughout the rest of the day but members also had the opportunity to develop archery and waterfront skills, and trap shoot. Late each afternoon members spent time on the lake in waterfront fun. Waterfront activities included supervised instructional skiing, disking, canoeing and swimming. Members were also given excursions on the lake in the State FFA’s pontoon boat. All activities were supervised by agriculture teachers as well as four fully certified waterfront staff.
