Three Drexel graduates plan for the future


Three Drexel High School students graduated at semester and have big plans for the next stage in their lives. Coleman Griff, Crashawna Irby and Tierney Woltkamp completed all the credits necessary to graduate and decided not to wait until the spring to start planning for their futures.

City of Drexel contributes to the Missouri Main Street Project


The Drexel Community Betterment Corporation received a $4,700.00 contribution to the Missouri Main Street Project from the City of Drexel. City officials presented the check to DCBC members Friday, December 20, 2013. The Missouri Main Street grant will be used for future revitalization projects of the City of Drexel.

DCBC sponsors Ladies Night Out


Several Drexel businesses participated in a DCBC sponsored Ladies Night Out event Tuesday, December 17. The businesses opened their doors for a special night focused on helping local ladies shop for Christmas gifts. Home-based businesses set up booths, too. Ladies who attended the event enjoyed finger foods and drinks as they shopped.

Holiday shoppers enjoy a special day at Mane Frame


Mane Frame Boutique and Salon held a Girls Night Out event Saturday, December 14. Business Owner Tesa Deel filled her shop with new merchandise for the holiday season. Many great deals were avail- able to help customers get their Christmas shopping done. Aesthetician Hannah Griff was on hand to give half price facials. Deel had giveaways throughout the event provided snacks and wine for shoppers to enjoy while they browsed.

Hawthorn Bank offers prizes to people who donate to their holiday food drive


Hawthorn Bank in Drexel has been collecting donations for the RIO food pantry during the holiday season. The bank setup a prize wheel in its lobby. Anyone who makes a $5.00 donation or brings in five nonperishable food items gets a chance to spin the big wheel. Three little ones had fun spinning the wheel on Friday, December 20th. They came to Hawthorn Bank with their families and donated to the food pantry. Each of them won a fun prize including a Hawthorn Bank mug, a $10.00 turkey gift certificate and a Hawthorn Bank can coolie.
