The Drexel Community Betterment Corporation, better known as D.C.B.C., met for their regular monthly meeting immediately following the noon whistle on Tuesday, July 29th, 2008 at the Drexel Community Center.
Jacklovich named as one of the best
In the July 2008 issue of KC Magazine, the 2008 FIVE STAR: Best in Client Satisfaction Real Estate Agents (SM) were announced. Local realtor, Joe Jacklovich, was among those selected.

Bartholomews earn blues at fair
Luke Bartholomew, 14, son of Darin and Robin Bartholomew, participated in the CCJLA cattle show on July 26, 2008 at North Park in Harrisonville, MO.
Luke showed one hereford heifer, one cow/calf pair and one bull. Luke did extremely well. Luke’s heifer won a blue ribbon in his class and Grand Champion Hereford Heifer. Luke’s cow/calf pair placed first in their class and also won Grand Champion Cow/Calf Pair. He received a plaque from Cass/Jackson County Cattlemen’s Association and a nice show halter donated by Matt and Diane Drake. With Luke’s bull he won. . .
City of Drexel to host hunter education course August 23rd
There are two hunter education courses scheduled in Cass County for the month of August.
A hunter education course will be sponsored by the Pleasant Hill VFW Post #3118 at 1701 Country Club Drive on August 9th.
The other course will be sponsored by the City of Drexel at the Drexel Community Building at 410 E. 4th St on August 23rd, 2008.

Missouri witnesses the return of a native
The puzzle of which came first, the chicken or the egg, could be a metaphor for the prairie chicken and the prairie. One without the other is unthinkable, if not impossible, yet Missouri is close to having prairies without their iconic birds. The Missouri Department of Conservation is trying to bring prairie chickens back from the brink of extirpation, partly for the birds’ own sake but also to give meaning to the ecosystem that spawned them.
