Semifinal upset for Lady Cats

Thursday night, March 5th, our Lady Cats again traveled to Leeton to take on the home town Lady Bulldogs in semi final action of District 8-1A basketball.
Drexel started strong with 3 layups and a 6 to 2 lead in the opening minutes of play. After a time out by Leeton, the Cats were unable to get much under the basket the rest of the game. In spite of this fact, a few fast breaks and some good outside shooting kept the game close. After three periods Drexel was trailing by only 30 to 32.
As the fourth quarter progressed, the outside shooting became a thing of the past. None of the shots were falling and Leeton had taken a 7 point lead. With the Lady Cats forced to press and play a tight defense, the Lady Bulldogs spent most of the last period on the free throw line. Leeton’s 6’ center Brittany Early and their 5’10”...
