Lady Cats reign at home, lose two

Traveling to Butler on Tuesday, the 19th of January, was much better over head as the weather had improved to a more decent temperature and the fog had lifted. Underneath was a different story as noticed by everyone who parked in the mud caused by the bad weather south of the Butler School.
Again, our Lady Cats started slow in the first quarter and finally Hocker gets a couple rebounds and puts one back for 2 and is fouled on the second attempt later but records 1 of 2 from the line. At the 5:50 mark it was Drexel 3 but the Lady Bears had scored 8 including 2 threes. Hocker passes to Gunnels who makes one from 10 feet and the score at the end of the first was Lady Bears 15 and Lady Cats 5.
Fouls begin to pile up and Butler is hitting at close to 100% from the line. Freeman is already in foul trouble with 3 and there is still 7:42 left in the first half. Williams comes in and immediately hits 2 of 2 from the line, Vlieger rebounds and scores a 2 while Sanders is also converting a basket. Vlieger with a nice block out goes to the line for 1 and 1 and makes both, then comes up with a defensive rebound. The margin in scoring is creeping closer at 13-20 but at the 4:43 mark of the 2nd quarter three starters are on the bench with 3 fouls. Good pass to Vlieger from Sanders who is fouled and goes to the line converting 2 more free throws. Williams with a steal and pass to Vlieger who goes back to the line making 1 of 2. A fast break pass from Williams to Shipley who is fouled making one of two. Meanwhile Butler is shooting numerous free throws and making most of them. Gunnels makes 2 of 2 frees and the Lady Cats are within 8. Vlieger makes a nice block and retrieves the ball from the 6’ Butler senior McCaslin. Shipley 2 for 2 from the line and the score is Butler 27 and Drexel 21. Gunnels commits her...
