Lady Cats fall in round 2 of district play
By TESA DEEL
The Drexel Lady Cats volleyball team's season ended last week in the 2nd round of Districts. Drexel defeated the Ballard Bulldogs to advance in the tournament and then faced the #2 seeded KC Lutheran. The Lady Cats opened up the game very steady and took a 5-0 lead over Lutheran. Karlie Stuteville served all 5 points for the lead. Drexel continued to maintain the lead until Lutheran tied things up at 8 all. The first game see-sawed back and forth then the Lady Cats made a run and went up 20-16. Lutheran did a nice job remaining composed and battled back to tie up the game at 22 all. Lutheran got the win capitalizing on Drexel's errors down the stretch, 24-26. The second game, Drexel went on a down ward spiral. The Lady Cats head's were down after the first loss and simple fundamentals were lost. The passing and serving errors proved disastrous for the Lady Cats, ending their season 17-25.
