Lady Cats end season in tourney

The Drexel Lady Cats volleyball squad wrapped up their season with a final record of 19-10-4 after competing in the District Volleyball Tournament last Monday, October 27th.
On Monday, Drexel, seeded third in the tourney, defeated Miami, 6th seed, in two matches 25-12 and 25-13.
Gunnels led in serving points with 12, Russell 8, Lane 5, McAnany 5.
Gunnels led in aces with 5, Lane followed with 3, Russell 1, Swezey 1.
McAnany led in kills with 7, Lane 3, Russell 3, and Gunnels secured 3.
Swezey led with 8 assists, Russell 7, McAnany 1, Gunnels 1, Hocker 1.
For blocks, Gunnels led with 2 and McAnany 1.
Gunnels had 2 digs, Hocker 2, Lane 2, McAnany 1.
“We were not playing up to our full potential against Miami,” said Coach Busch. “I let the girls know that they were going to have to step it up against Archie if they wanted to win. We went to the practice gym and tried to get our timing down on hitting.”
Later that night, Archie defeated the Lady Cats in two matches 20-25, 17-25 to advance them to the championship on Wednesday.
Hocker led the Lady Cats in serving points with 6, Mcanany 4.
In aces, Hocker led with 3, Gunnels 1, Russell 1, Lane 1.
Russell secured 3 kills, Swezey 2, McAnany 2, Gunnels 1.
Swezey had 3 assists, Russell 2.
McAnany had 2 blocks.
Lane ended with 8 digs, McAnany 8, Hocker 6, Gunnels 4.
