Lady Cats conclude in third place, grab win in Sherwood

The Drexel Lady Cats won third place in the WEMO Conference Volleyball Tournament last Saturday, October 18th.
In the first round game, Drexel defeated Rich Hill: 25-20 and 25-14.
Megan Lane led the Cats with 16 serving points, and Chelle McAnany and Mallori Russell both wrapped up 6.
Lane led with 4 aces.
McAnany had 6 kills, Russell 3 kills, and Swezey with 3.
Russell and Swezey ended with 4 assists each.
Lane again led the team with 5 digs, Gunnels had 5, Russell and Hocker each ended with 4 digs.
Jessi Gunnels had 1 successful block.
“This was a great win and it set the tone for how we played the remainder of the tournament,” commented Coach Busch.
In the semi-final match, Midway defeated the Lady Cats: 22-25, 25-22, and 23-25.
“This was the second time we’ve gone three, close games with Midway,” said Coach Busch. “It was rough to take a loss after such an intense battle, but Midway is an excellent team.”
