Hudson named head coach of Bobcats

Coach Sterling D. Hudson will be taking over the reigns of the Bobcat Football Program in 2009. Coach Hudson has a long resume and lots of experience coaching. He has over 25 years experience in education and has been a recognized recipient of the Wal-Mart Area Teacher of the Year Award in 2005 and Governor’s Achievement Award 2006-2007. He has 28 years experience in coaching football. Of those years, he was the Shrine Bowl Assistant Coach in 1983; a clinic speaker at Fredonia’s Yellowjacket Football Clinic and Pittsburg State University’s Football Clinic and was also the Metro Classic Assistant Coach in 1999.
He has been a head football coach for 23 years with a total winning record of 116-82. His coaching experience spans from Prairie View, KS; Friends University; Texas Christian University; Uniontown, KS; Shawnee Mission, KS; and Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS. He has coached his teams to six conference titles and seven playoff appearances.
Coach Hudson has helped to coach 55 players who have signed letters of intent to play at a higher level. They include such notables as Wes Baker, three-time All American at Pittsburg State University, Ron Schomaker, Academic All-American at Friends University, and Brody Eldridge, All Big XII (2006 and 2007) at University of Oklahoma.
He has a B.S. and a M.S. in Physical Education from Pittsburg State University and also an A.A. from Independence Community College. Coach Hudson will not only be coaching football but will also be teaching English.
Understandably, Coach Hudson does not want to reveal his coaching techniques that he might be using at Drexel R-IV.
