Drexel School adds new spring sports to lineup

It’s the start of something big.... Baseball and Softball Programs are being introduced to the sports program at Drexel R-IV. Many Drexel students have played baseball or softball in the past summers through a league, but starting this year the Bobcats and Lady Cats will have both sports as an organized school activity.
With help from donations and volunteer work, both from individuals and businesses, the fields are fast approaching readiness for the Spring Sports to begin.
Athletic Director Dennis Bolton has been organizing a sports schedule and has the season officially kicking off on March 26th for all spring sporting events. The baseball and softball programs will match-up with Archie High in their first home opener. The first pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
Dr. Judy Stivers, Superintendent of the Drexel School District, has introduced the coaching staff for the ball teams. They are Head Softball Coach Brenda Meerkatz and Head Baseball Coach Clinton Spencer. Both coaches seem very excited about their new ventures.
