Drexel Bobcats meet their match at home

By RICHARD HETTINGER
The Drexel Bobcats came out strong during their host game with the Adrian Blackhawks last Tuesday evening, but fell to defeat in the long run. To start, Joe Roberts scores with a semi hook shot jumper and a turn around jumper then Seba a 3, Bolton a 2, J. Roberts a put back and Cooley drives the lane for 2. Adrian’s Keenan Morrow is shooting well with a 3 and a long 2 along with the rest of the Blackhawks who quickly take a lead of 13-25 after one period.
The second quarter starts with Adrian’s Moles and Morrow scoring again, Seba answers from 12 feet as does Hadley from the 3 point line but his foot was on the line for a 2. Cooley makes a jumper from the free throw line and Drexel has crept back into the game with 4 minutes left in the 2nd but still trail 22-33. Bolton makes 2 of 2 from the line but Moles of Adrian continues to clean up under the basket with put backs. J. Roberts gets a nice turn around jumper from 8 feet but bad luck strikes the Bobcats as Cooley goes down with a severely sprained ankle and will be out for a few games. White, another 3 point shooter for Adrian, scores and Drexel is looking at a halftime deficit of 18 points.
In the third period Bolton gets a steal and a 2 from 8 feet but White hits another 3 for Adrian, Hadley comes back with a 3, Seba a 2 and Allen with two buckets but Adrian is playing very well and lead after 3 by 23 points.
The fourth quarter finds Allen, Seba and J. Roberts all scoring a three while Wilson made a 2 from 6 feet but the lead was too much as the Bobcats went down to defeat 71-50. Having to revamp both your offense and defense after loosing a starter did not help the situation.
The Blackhawks made 5 three pointers shooting 44% from the field and made 6 of 9 from the charity stripe. The Bobcats also did not get to the line much making 4 of 8. Leading scorers were, Seba 13, J. Roberts 11 and Allen 7. Seba had the only recorded steal. Russell led in assists with 3. Rebounding: Seba 8, Bolton 4, J. Roberts and Russell with 3 each.
“Adrian proved to us again why they are one of the top teams in the state,” comments Coach Bolton. “We did a little better job handling the pressure, but still had difficulties finishing shots. The boys worked hard and fought the entire game. We are working on getting to Adrian’s level.”
On Thursday of last week, the Bobcats hosted the Miami Eagles. Blake Seba gets things started with an assist to J. Roberts for 2 and Hadley gets every thing going well for the Bobcats with two swishes from the three point land. Miami hangs in and it’s 8-8 after 3 minutes. J. Roberts gets a put back,....
