Cats fight hard as a team, points scored

The Drexel Bobcat varsity football squad took to the road last Friday to compete against the Appleton City Bulldogs in a district game. They fell to the Bulldogs 42-21. Drexel received the ball at the 7:00 p.m. kick-off.
Appleton City was first to put points on the scoreboard with a touchdown run and successful point after in the first quarter. With only minutes into the second quarter the Bulldogs continued to maintain possession adding 6 more to the board. With lack of complete pass plays and line drives, the Bobcats were forced to turn over the ball giving the Bulldogs continued possession in the second quarter as they added four more touchdowns to the board. The Bobcats headed to the locker rooms with a halftime score of 36-0.
Although Drexel was held scoreless by the defensive Bulldogs through the first half, they came back out with a different attitude. The first touchdown for the varsity Cats came when senior running back Kurtis McLellan flew into a punt, blocking it, and recovering it in the end zone for a Bobcat unintentional touchdown.
