Cats bow out of tourney

Drexel boys played in the consolation side of the bracket and faced the tall and talented Bulldogs of Appleton City. With two boys 6’ 5” and two others 6’4” available to Appleton City, the rebounds were hard to come by as the Bulldogs were able to have numerous offensive shots at close range. Joe Roberts was very capable of holding his own but he is the only big boy available to the Bobcats. Other Bobcats did get rebounds as shown by the stats but the Bulldogs continued to dominate their offensive boards. Aside from that fact and another slow start by the Bobcats, they were able to outplay the Bulldogs in other areas.
After the first quarter, they found themselves looking at a large deficit of 18 - 6 that seemed to be starting towards a blowout score. The Bobcats re-grouped after half time and played the Bulldogs almost to a stand still in the second half. After being down 17 points at the half, the Bobcats fought valiantly in the second half to a final score of 31-50. The talented Bulldog Coach Jim Rhea, who has been coaching at Appleton City since these boys’ dads were playing, did not let up as he continued to leave his starters in the entire game. In spite of this fact Drexel managed to out score their opponent in the 3rd quarter.
