Traveling was the name of the game last week when the Drexel Bobcats took the baseball team on the road for two straight days of game contests. The local club first traveled to Hume to contest their skills last Thursday, April 15th.
Drexel held a 4-0 lead well into the 5th inning when Hume scored for the first time. The Bobcats were held from putting runs on the scoreboard again until the 7th inning where they and the Hornets both put three more tally’s each on the board.
It wasn’t enough for the Hume Hornets as they fell to the talented boys of Drexel in a final score of 7-5.
“We were able to hit the ball, but we just kept hitting right at them,” states Coach Bolton. “We were able to make the plays when we had to. The coaches were proud of the way team kept their heads as Hume made a run in the final inning.”
From a pitching aspect, Blake Seba, pitching 6 of the 7 innings, recorded 13 strike-outs against Hume, allowed 5 walks and gave up 2 runs. Alec Young tallied 1 strike-out, 2 walks, and allowed 3 runs in one inning at the plate.

It took a while for Drexel to get their wheels rolling as Osceola rallied together and held Drexel scoreless until the 3rd when they put their first 3 on the board. However, the Indians still held the lead with 4 runs from the 2nd inning. Drexel answered the call and kept the Indians at bay through three more innings and brought in 4 more runs in the 5th. At the top of the 6th, Drexel led 7-4. Osceola came back and added three more in the 6th and 7th but Drexel retaliated and placed two more runs on their side for a final win over the Indians, 9-7.
