Athletic Banquet held

On Monday night, April 11th, the Spring Athletic Banquet was held in the south gym at Drexel R-IV. A nice meal was had after Ashton Raffety gave the blessing. Ashton, who is generally never lost for words, told me afterwards that he thought he might have stuttered a little.
After the meal all the coaches introduced their teams for basketball, track & field, golf, baseball, softball and the dance team. Katie Hocker and Alec Young received awards for outstanding sportsmanship to begin the ceremonies.
Adrianne Lane introduced the 18 & 8 Girls Basketball Team. Katie Hocker received the Defender Award, Baylee Kendrick Offensive Award and Honorable Mention All District, Shelly McAnany Honorable Mention All Conference, Mallari Russell First Team All Conference and All District. Most Improved Player Katie Hocker and Most Valuable Player Mallari Russell.
Coach Bolton introduced the boys basketball team and awarded Keifer Shipley Most Improved Player and Blake S eba Team Leader Award. The entire team will be back next year along with some outstanding eighth graders moving up. The future looks bright for Bobcat Basketball.
Coach Busch introduced the dance team and they bid farewell to two outstanding senior dancers, Chelsea Bauer and Taylor Swezey. The good news is that there are 17 girls interested in dancing next year.
Girls Track and Field Team was introduced by Coach Middleton and she stated that their 4 x 100 relay team received third place in the tough WEMO Conference. Two girls qualified for sectionals at the district held last week. They were Megan Lane and Katie Hocker.
