Neal F. Enfield 1934-2012

Neal F. Enfield age 81 passed away Thursday December 20, 2012 in Gravois Mills, MO. Neal was born July 23, 1931 in Kansas City, MO. to Frederick and Mildred (Belle) Enfield.
Neal was preceded in death by his wife: Margaret Enfield in 2000, brother: A.J. Enfield, sister: Elsie Mae Wymann. He is survive by hid daughters Louise Blankinship, Linda Kahler, Keith Enfield; grandchildren Melanie, Heather, Joshua, John; great grandchildren Korey, Katrina, Ryan, Brandon, Brianna.

Bobcats take on Lone Jack Mules: Bobcats defeat Lone Jack 78-12

The Drexel boys basketball team continued to play at a high level of excellence on the basketball court last week against the Lone Jack Mules. Coach Dennis Bolton stated, "This game gave us the opportunity to get some of the subs a lot of game time experience. We are looking forward to playing Kansas City Center at the Harrisonville Tournament. They are a great team and we are going to be pushed."

Bobcats take on Lone Jack Mules: Lady Bobcats lose by 3, 50-53

The Drexel Lady Cats traveled to Lone Jack to face the mules last week in a non conference match up that went in favor of the Mules, 50-53. The entire game was a neck and neck but the Lady Cats could never get the lead to pull away for the victory. The first quarter ended with Lone Jack u over Drexel by 1 and the second quarter the Mules pulled ahead by 5. The Lady Cats came out after half putting up a fight but fell short by 3 points.

JH Lady Bobcats place 2nd

The JH Lady Cats had a very successful 2012 basketball season, with an overall record of 11-4 and placing 2nd in the WEMO Conference Tournament. The Lady Cats faced Appleton City in the first round of the tournament and won 25-13, then beat Midway in the semi-finals 24-14, then lost to a very talented Adrian Blackhawk team 18-47 in the Championship Game.

Bobcats win Junior High WEMO Conference Tournament

The Drexel Bobcat JH Boys Basketball team advanced to the WEMO Championship Thursday, December 13, when they defeated the Archie Whirlwinds 44-28. The key to the Bobcats victory was playing sound defense and controlling the momentum of the game. Also the Bobcats were able to pull away in the second half scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter. Stats: W. Deel-2pts, A. Swoger-5pts, Joey Jacobs-12pts, T. Woltkamp-10pts, and J. Breuer-15pts.

The Santa Express rolls through Drexel

Santa's Express rolled into Drexel with Santa and Mrs. Claus on board along with Santa's elves. Thursday evening there was an estimated 1,800 people who boarded Kansas City Southern's retired train cars that were decked out with Christmas decorations from ceiling to floor before visiting Santa and Mrs. Claus. All the kids enjoyed seeing seeing the tank car, Rudy and his smiling face, all lit up with a flat car right behind Rudy carrying Santa's sleigh and reindeer.

Lady bobcats defeat Appleton City

On Friday December 7th the Drexel Lady Bobcats were on the road for conference action against the Appleton City Lady Bulldogs. Drexel Showed aggressive play both on offense and defense as they held Appleton City to only 13 points as they scored 46, to take the victory.

Bobcats remain undefeated with win over Appleton City

The Drexel boys basketball team remains undefeated after defeating the Appleton City Bulldogs last week. Drexel traveld to Appleton City and defeated the Bulldogs 72-28. Drexel took an early lead in the first quarter 15-0. The second quarter Drexel built on their lead, taking a 25 point lead going into the half. Drexel's defense continued to play solid only allowing the Bulldogs to score 2 points in the third quarter and played even with Appleton City in the 4th quarter.

All Aboard the Polar Express!

Drexel Elementary presented The Polar Express Christmas concert on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 in the North Gym. The inspiration came from the popular story, "All Aboard! The Polar Express."

Attention Farmers! Expect changes on Interstate 49

By MISSOURI DEPT. OF TRANSPORTATION
History will be made Dec. 12 in Joplin, Mo., when U.S. Route 71 between Kansas City and Pineville, Mo., is officially designated Interstate 49, but this milestone will mean changes for truckers and farmers.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin to uncover or turn I-49 shields already installed along the highway once the renaming of the highway is official.

Fatal shooting near Harrisonville

By CASS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
Around 9:50pm Thursday night, November 29, Cass County Deputies were called to the 27000 block of S. East Outer Rd. south of Harrisonville in reference of a shooting. Upon their arrival deputies located one victim, now identified as 60 year old Eldon Eugene Campbell Jr. of Harrisonville. Mr. Campbell was transported to Cass Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead as a result of an apparent gunshot wound.

JH Lady Cats move to 5-0 in conference play

The JH Lady Cats defeated Rich Hill on November 19 and Midway on November 29, moving their WEMO Conference record to 5-0. Stats
Final Score for Rich Hill 21-17 and the final score of the Midway game was 22-15.

Drexel JH boys win big over Midway Vikings

The Drexel JH Boys traveled to Midway Thursday, November 29, and defeated the Vikings 36-12. This was a revenge game for the Bobcats as they had lost by 1 to the Vikings earlier in the year. The Bobcats really played great defense and showed tremendous teamwork. Coach Cecil was very proud of how his worked together and was aggressive on defense.

Bobcats named to All District and All State Football teams

These five Drexel Bobcat football players received post season honors. Two of the players were named to the Football Coaches Association All State team and five were named to Class 1 All District Football. All State players were Daniel Roberts, 3rd Team Offensive; Hunter Lindsey, 2nd Team Defensive Line. Those name to All District were: Hunter Lindsey, Defensive Line; Cody Russell, Defensive Back; Javyn Johnston, Quarterback; Trevor Stewart, Running Back; Daniel Roberts, Offensive Line and Linebacker.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Santa Claus is coming to town again, but not by sleigh, but by train. The Kansas City Southern Holiday Express will be pulling into Drexel on Thursday December 13th at 4:00 p.m. Santa will be on board along with his elves, ready for all cheery faces.
