A new Drexel Elementary Principal?
On October 25th, Drexel Elementary had a new principal for one day, Principal Gracie Marks. Gracie received this honor because she raised the most money from sponorships for the Wacky Walk-A-Thon. For that one special day, Miss Marks helped Mrs. Jacklovich with the 1st quarter Awards Assembly and assisted with other daily principal duties. She even got to sit at Mrs. Jacklovich's desk during her day as Principal!

Drexel PTO hosts Wacky Walk-A-Thon
Drexel's PTO put together a Wacky Walk-A-Thon for this year's fundraiser. On October 19th Drexel Elementary dressed wacky for school. Toward the end of the day, students hit the track. Elementary Principal Laurie Jacklovich played some wacky music over the sound system as the students, teachers and parents walked around the track. Mrs. Jacklovich then called out wacky things to do. The kids had to hop, skip, yell "GO BOBCATS", wave to their teacher, walk backwards, walk very slowly, do jumping jacks, walk fast and other wacky stuff.
Lady Cats defeat Hogan Prep
The Drexel Lady Cats played their fineal home game against Hogan Prep Charter this past week. The Lady Cats defeated Hogan in two sets, 25-20, 25-20.
Bobcats roll over Mules in lopsided 55-0 victory
Drexel Fire gives a "Smoke House" demonstration at Drexel Elementary
On October 19th, the Drexel Fire Department provided Drexel Elementary students with a chance to go through a "Smoke House." This is a program that originated from West Peculiar Fire in which a trailer is set up like a house. The kids start out in a kitchen area and are asked to point out what could cause fires and what to do aout it. Then they were taken into a living room area with a fireplace or a heater and were given information anout what to do when there is a fire and how to exit a house.
A beautiful day for the 1st Annual Chris Da' Bull Moles Moles Memorial Motorcycle Ride
Twenty-three people put their leathers on for the 1st Annual Chris Da' Bull Moles Memorial Motorcycle Ride. October 21st held beautiful weather for the riders. The 1st annual ride was mad up of a 125 mile ride with four different stops along the way. The route started out at Drexel's H.T. Smith Park and went down to Amsterdam through Hume, over to Mound City and LaCygne, up to Louisburg, and back over to 71 Highway so that the riders would pass Chris Moles' memorial on A Highway to finish up the ride.

The "Bobcat" makes it to FOX studios

A local patent from Drexel's Innovaprep has made its way to Fox Studios on a popular hybrid TV series Fringe. Fringe is and American science fiction television series on Fox that follows members of a Federal Bureau of Investigation "Fringe Division" team based in Boston, Massachusetts under the supervision of Homeland Security. This television series uses "fringe" science to investigate unexplained occurences that are related to mysteries surrounding a parallel universe.
Cross Country team competes

The Drexel Cross Country Team traveled to Sherwood last Wednesday to compete. Sherwood's course was a good standard course that wasn't too hard but a good easy run for the team. Drexel had 4 runners place in the top 10 and the boy's team took 2nd overall.
The Senior Cross Country runners were recognized last week along with their parents at the Thursday volleyball game. Drexel will graduat 6 runners this year, Jacklynn Williams, Nikki Quisenberry, Chase Reynolds, Chance Reynolds, Trevor Cooley and Austin Davis.
Bobcats shut out Derrick Thomas Academy

The Drexel Bobcats football team improved its record to 6-1 after a big win over Derrick Thomas Academy this past Friday night, 55-0. Drexel focused on their running game with 285 total rushing yards.
Drexel started off slowly against Derrick Thomas Academy. DTA kicked to the Cats and after only 3 plays, Drexel got its first turnover of the game on a fumble by Tyler Allen. The Cats defense stepped up however and forced Derrick Thomas Academy to punt after only 3 downs.
Lady Bobcats take 3rd in WEMO Volleyball Tournament

The Drexel Lady Cats Volleyball team competed in its 2nd tournament in consecutive weekends. The Wemo Conference Tournament was held at Archie this year and had Drexel seeded 4th. The Lady Cats were able to defeat Appleton City but lost to Midway. The third place game was a battle between Archie and Drexel but Drexel prevailed in three games. "Senior, Mikaela Hadley exclaimed, "The conference tournament was very tiring and definitely a challenge. I am just happy that we pulled through and go a seed higher than we started. Go Lady Cats!"
Lady Bobcats head into Districts with a stunning victory over Appleton City

The Lady Cats has an interesting week of volleyball with some lows but ending with a high. They traveled to Osceola and as a team just could not get on track. Junior, Sydney Seba commented, "our heads were not in the game. We had a bad night; everyone was off. We just could never get anything rolling." Drexel fell short in two game, 21-25, 14-25.
Drexel PTO explains Missouri PIRC
The Drexel PTO met October 3rd in the Drexel School Library. Mrs. Julia Barbarick's third grade class and Mrs. Brenda Meerkatz's fifth grade class gave a presentation about the three parts of a cell. Both classes showed deomstrations of a cell's structure by using cupcakes.
Elementary Principal, Mrs. Laurie Jacklovich gave out information about The Missouri PIRC and explained to parents what is was.

A homecoming victory for the Bobcats

The Drexel Football team had a battle against the Sherwood Marksmen for homecoming last Friday night. Both teams contained the others running game well but both teams also found good gains with their passing game. Drexel edged out the Marksmen 27-25 playing a mentally tough game with no turnovers and few penalties.

Lady Bobcats "Dig Pink"

The Drexel Lady Cats hosted the annual Dig Pink Event to raise money for the Side-Out Foundation last Tuesday. The theme for the day was PINK. To get the event started off right it was Super Pink Day for Homecoming. The fans decked out in every shade of pink to support the girls for the match against Midway. The team added a little pink to their uniforms also with headbands and socks.

City of Drexel installs new water meters
City of Drexel Water Technician Russ Ream and other city employees are installing new water meters in Drexel. The new water meters can be read electronically from a radio transmitted singal from a street while in a cehicle. These water reading will be more accurate and even allow for meters to be read with a foot of snow on the ground. The new meters also allow the meters to be read more quickly.

Johnston named MO sports.com player of the week
Javyn Johnston, junior quarterback of the Drexel Bobcats was selected as MO sports.com player of the week for his game against the Osceola Indians on Friday, September 14th.

Cross Country continues to strengthen as a team
The Drexel Cross Country Teams continue to show improvement in their meets and are working hard to better their individual times to prepare for Districts. The teams competed in meets this past week at Barstow and Midway. The runners continues to place high amongst the competition, Senior Chase Reynolds placed 5th and 7th at the meets out of more than 90 runners. Chase commented on the Barstow meet, "This was a good meet for our team, I feel that i am getting stronger and I feel that our team is getting stronger each meet.
Lady Bobcats volleyball action
The Lady Cats had a successful week last week getting 3 more wins for their 10-5 record. Drexel overcame the host Archie Whirlwinds in a WEMO Conference match by the score of 29-27, 26-24. Archie started 5 Seniors and got up early by 9 points on the young Bobcat team. Drexel rallied back an played some of their best volleyball to date for the win.
Outstanding offense and defense pushes Bobcats to a 54-8 victory over Tigers

The Drexel football team had an outstanding night both offensively and defensively against the Rich Hill Tigers. The Tigers came into the game looking for their first win. Drexel was looking to regroup after their first loss last week. The Cats won the lopsided game 54-8. Drexel improved their record to 5-1 on the season. The Cats startin defense only allowed 1 first down for the Tigers while the offense put up 54 points. Drexel for the season has rushed for 2000 yards and thrown for over 1000 yards.
A New Look at Jesse James

Among the more exciting events that occurred in the vicinity of Drexel was the robber of a general merchandise store on the evening of December 5, 1873. Three miles north and one-half mile east of where Drexel is located, stood a small town, now non-existent by the name of Brosley. By today's street designations, Brosley was one quarter mile east of Holmes Road on Missouri Route 00. To be accurate, the three miles north must be measured from the Bates-Cass county line.
Drexel R-IV recognizes Students of the Month
New this year at Drexel R-IV is the recognition of "Student of the Month." The Student of the Month program is designed to give recognition to those students that go above and beyond what is expected of them. "I am glad we have this opportunity to recognize student that are making positive choices and being great role models for others," commented Elementary Principal Laurie Jacklovich.

Cross Country does well at Prairie View
The Drexel Cross Country Team went across the border to Prairie View, KS. last week and had a superb meet. The Drexel boys placed first overall as a team and 2 runners placed 1st in their divisions. Trevor Gunnels placed 1st in the Freshman boys race and Jenna Bartholomew placed 1st in the Junior Varsity run. Two varsity runners cracked the top 5. Chase Reynolds brought home a 2nd place and Jacklynn Williams placed 4th.
