City Council approve building permits, not before fairness in issuance is discussed

7th Annual Shop with a Cop/Firefighter held
On December 12th The Drexel Police and Fire Department put on the 7th annual Shop with a Cop or Firefighter for several local children. The day started with a breakfast prepared by Barb Taylor and Caroline Showalter including pancakes, cinnamon rolls and sausage for the kids and their families. The breakfast was funded by the Drexel Lions Club.
‘Tis the Season
The second annual Drexel Christmas Festival took place Saturday, December 12th at the Drexel Community Center. There was entertainment provided by the Drexel Dazzlers, the High School Dance Team, and Mrs. Bailey’s sixth grade class entertained everyone with a Christmas play. Drexel has some very talented young actors. Mrs. Groves and the High School Choir, Bell Choir and Josh Eberra rounded out the evening by playing a variety of Christmas selections. Josh Eberra brought many to tears when he sang “The Rose”.

Year later: area man remains unseen
It was one year ago, November 19th, that David Cook, was last seen. There is still no explanation as to what happened to him but one thing that family is certain about is that David had cattle stolen from his property near Virginia, MO between June and November 2008 when he went missing. They believe he had cattle stolen from other locations as well.
The most recent development is that David’s story is scheduled to air on the America’s Most Wanted TV show on December 12th, 2009. The show is on Saturday nights at 9/8c on the FOX network. David’s Missing Persons web
City approves contracts for water project
The Board of Aldermen of the City of Drexel, Missouri met in Special Session on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. Mayor Reece called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. The meeting was held at City Hall.
There were no citizens present.
There were no presenters present.
Mayor Kenneth Reece, Alderman Mayfield, Mayor Pro-Tem Doug Musick and Alderman Kevin Shannon were all in attendance. Alderwoman Bush-Wishon was absent. City Staff present were Police Chief Jon Carpenter, City Treasurer Peggy Moles and City Clerk Kara Smith.

Harold Rex Gillogly 1909-2009
Harold Rex Gillogly, 100, of Louisburg, Kansas, died December 5, 2009 at Vintage Park in Louisburg.
Harold was born October 1, 1909, at home near New Lancaster, Miami County, Kansas. He was the oldest of three surviving children born to Cleveland and Mary ‘Mollie’ Dakin Gillogly. After age 10, the family moved to the Gillogly farm on Rockville Road.
Celebrating 60th Anniversary
The children of Vera and John Dakin invite the community to celebrate their parents’ 60th Wedding Anniversary. The children are: Cee and John Kueser of Louisburg, KS, Karl and Darla Dakin of Denver, CO, Monica and David Higgins of Naples, FL, Roy and Susan Dakin of Mobile, AL and Sam Dakin of Louisburg, KS. The couple have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The couple will renew their vows at the Drexel United Methodist Church on Saturday, the nineteenth of December at two o’clock. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Local resident becomes U.S. citizen
After seven years of preparation and determination, Vinnie Elliott, a local Drexel citizen, is now one of us.
A beloved local area resident, Viengsavanthong Chanthavong Elliott (Vinnie Elliott) became one of the newest Citizens of the United States of America on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 10:30 a.m.
The swearing-in, also known as naturalization proceedings, was held in the Frank Carlson Federal Building in Topeka, Kansas, during which 44 new citizens, originally from 24 different countries, became new citizens.

The game started with a wow as Appleton City received the tip and Kaufman quickly stole the ball and Drexel led by 2. The Lady Bulldogs came to play also as with a couple 3s and good rebounding suddenly had run the score to 2-12 in favor of A.C. The Lady Cats came together and pulled within 5 at the quarter but still trailed by 9-14.
